Welcome to MVAS

The Milan Village Arts School, founded in 1988, is a non-profit, member supported organization dedicated to promoting the arts. Each year, the school hosts a diverse range of classes, reflecting the rich heritage of arts within the community. Although traditional Scandinavian Folk Arts have been the foundation of the school, classes are also offered in the fabric, book, silver and other mediums.

The Spoon Gathering

The Spoon Gathering is an annual assembly of folk artisans with an emphasis on spoons. The hand-made spoon is a traditional symbol associated with family, food, fellowship, community, celebration, and commemoration in many cultures. Spoons also have many practical uses, attracting a long tradition of fine workmanship by folk artists.

The 2008 Spoon Gathering, hosted by the Milan Village Arts School on June 6, 7 & 8 in Milan, MN, will feature Norman Stevens’ international spoon collection and demonstrations by several artists. This event will also include local food and music.

Northern Lights Capital Campaign

MVAS is raising funds to install traditionally designed windows on the north wall of the school to provide more natural light for our many classes. Click here to learn how you can help us meet our goal of $10,000 by summer 2009.
